Russia doubts U.S. will protect Russian orphans

According to him, the termination of investigation into the death of Maxim Kuzmin is in line with the condescending attitude of Americans in the United States to acts of violence against children adopted from Russia.

"According to the case file, even a layman can see that the injury which caused the boy's death simply could not have been be self-inflicted said Dolgov.

"In general, the events in Texas only reinforce our doubts about the willingness and ability of the U.S. federal government to provide for the adequate protection of the legitimate rights and interests of adopted Russian children," said the diplomat.

The death in Texas of three year old Maxim Kuzmin, who was adopted in Russia along with his brother, only became known in February.

The child died on Jan. 21 after he was taken to the hospital.

The Texas authorities announced in March that the death of Maxim was not associated with abuse and that they would not bring charges against the adoptive parents.
